Compulsory studies
. Note to students: Course 82814 Rain and Cloud Physics is required for all students up to and including those who began their studies in the 2019-2020 academic year. Students who began their studies up to and including in the 2019-2020 academic year who have not yet taken the course must register for it. Note to students: course 76415 is a prerequisite for course 82609 Seminar for Undergraduate Students. Note to students: A student doing a minor outside of Earth Sciences but in the Faculty of Science must ask the secretary of the respective department (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics) whether or not the courses listed in track 6014 are interchangeable with the parallel courses in the respective minor. For example, students doing a minor in Physics must take the first-year courses in physics and mathematics as listed in the minor in physics rather than the first-year courses in physics and mathematics listed in track 6014 and then must also make up the credits towards the major in Earth Sciences by choosing courses from among the elective courses in Climate-Atmospheric Sciences-Oceanography. For students doing a minor in Physics along with a major in Climate-Atmospheric Sciences-Oceanography, courses 70356 Introduction to Modeling in Earth Sciences and 82314 Thermodynamics of the Atmosphere and Oceans are not required but rather are elective. Students who choose not to take 70356 and/or 82314 must make up the credits of course 70356 and/or 82314 by choosing courses from among the elective courses for Climate-Atmospheric Sciences-Oceanography.

You must choose 26 credits from this list during of your degree studies. This cluster of courses is common to the second and third years of study. Note to students: there are courses in this list that are for third-year students only. Note to students: pay attention to the prerequisites for the courses in this list. Note to students: not every course in this list is offered every year. A second-year student who is considering taking courses from this list in his/her third year should check with the course lecturer if the course will be offered next year. A student who is interested in registering for guided research may register for one of the following courses, 70317 or 82519, after obtaining permission from the Head of the Department. Given that all undergraduate students are required to take at least one course given in English, we offer a number of courses in English, as indicated in the course descriptions.
